Travel Tip Tuesday: Be camera ready

Each Tuesday, Anywhere Anytime Journeys will bring you some useful tips for your upcoming travels. This week, our topic is being camera ready*.

Camera Travel

You will never know when that “Special Moment” will happen, so it’s best to be prepared and have your camera at the ready. Most travelers these days have smartphones, so the two biggest checks would be:

  1. Is the battery fully charged?
  2. Do you have enough space on your smartphone’s memory?

You don’t want to be at the ready and your smartphone shuts down from a dead battery or pops up with an error that reads “Insufficient memory” or something similar. So don’t forget your charging cable(s) and if you have a lot of photos on your smartphone, download them to your computer before leaving for your vacation of a lifetime.

Another item to consider would be a selfie-stick. However, I prefer asking a fellow traveller if they would take the photo. You never know, that simple request may spark a life-long friendship or even a new travel partner.

For the serious Travel Photographer, you will need to consider much more than battery power and storage space. Check out Jim Shannon’s post for more detail.

  1. Camera
  2. Lenses, including telephoto lenses
  3. Flashes
  4. Filters
  5. Straps
  6. Memory Cards, Image Storage & Backups
  7. Tripods
  8. Bags
  9. Light Stands
  10. Shoes (You want to be comfortable, don’t you?)
  11. An outstanding plan for packing it all and transporting it.

Once you return from your journey, share those “Special Moments” with loved ones. But don’t forget to share them with your Travel Agent!
